Xsan compatibility with ActiveSAN

Apple today (well, tomorrow, technically) posted a terse knowledge base article confirming compatibility of Xsan 2 clients with ActiveSAN MDCs.

Xsan versionActiveSAN 1.0
Xsan 2.1.1
Xsan 2.2, 2.2.1, 2.2.2
Xsan 2.3

It's not every day that Apple brings a new manufacturer into the fold. Congratulations, Active Storage!

I'd like to know about client compatibility with regards to OS. With XSAN we were always told the MDCs had to be on the latest and greatest prior to upgrading any clients. IS that not the case with ActiveSAN? Can we mix and match OS versions without worrying about incompatibilities?

Kind regards,

Xsan and Apple have been interfaced with one another for years now. I'm looking for a third-party software plan to incorporate both into some business plans. I don't have any coding skills, so I'd have to hire someone on Angie's List or something. The key is outsourcing everything.
