Also, look into SNS's SANmp software for volume based SANs. (http://
studionetworksolutions.com) Also they have a solid SATA box and you can use
an XserveRAID, if you must, with media composers. Like folks say, the Avid
products work better, fewer bugs, but cost a lot more. I found SNS to be solid
and relatively inexpensive. Their support is also untouchable.
