|

Is it normal that a check-in of a project can take up to 40 minutes ? The FCP project is about 15 Mb.
Where is the parameter to set a higher priority to the check-in/check-out process? It seems that proxy creation and other jobs get in the queue and make the check-in process a lot longer.
Is there a way to resolve this ?
Thanks |

40 Minutes seems quite excessive, unless that includes uploading and transcoding lots of media. In which case the "check in" won't indicate finished until that media is "in the basket".
If you have admin rights....
In the "search all jobs" window, control-click the check in job and then "get info".
Here, in the case of most jobs, you can toggle priority low/med/high/run now.
You'll want to "run now".
As far I know, there is no way to globally set project check-ins to get priority over other types of jobs...
I hope I'm wrong and someone else knows a magic secret...
That would be nice. |

Normally, how long it takes for a project to check-in or check-out?
The check-in of a 6 MB project took almost 10 minutes (no new medias, only timeline modifications). The Check-Out on another machine of that same project took at least 5 minutes...
I saw the place to change the priority to High or Run Now, My first question was to set it automatically to High or Run Now.
For the 5 minutes check-out, nothing was happening in the Search All Jobs. In the admin panel (LOGS) there was a lot of "updated metadata for Media Element (Final Cut Pro File)" After all those update, the project was copied locally. And for the five minutes, the FCS interface was frozen with the blue beachball running until it started to copy. (and it took few seconds, as I think a check-out should take..)
If you have some ideas !

Here at our facility, an average project (5MB) takes about 10 seconds to check out, and if no media has been added... about 10 seconds to check in.
Can you provide some more information about your setup?
Is this something that has started recently, or has been this way. |

There is 2 XSAN volumes. One contains all medias and projects in seperate folders (each has one device). The other volume has proxies and versions and capture scratch.
Every machine have access to those volumes with ACL permissions.
The server is FCS 1.1.1 on an Xserve 10.5.7. dual-quad-core 12gb of RAM. There is also a MATROX Compress HD card. The server is not used as an editing station.
It started to do this after few weeks. Projects getting bigger, more medias in the library. A FCP files can get up to 85 Mb, but a 30 minutes to check-in is way too long.
There is a lot of media analysing when chekin-in or out the project. But there is also some timeout...it seems nothnigs is happening. The GUI is often freezing for few minutes and after a while it restarts. I noticed some crash in the /Library/Logs/CrashReporter of the FCS services... |
