|
|
Hi all, here is the set up we have right now. We have a XSAN set up with final cut server and a promise VTRAK raid with 8TB. I am looking for a back up solution to this (incase the building burns down). I would like to back up the content on the promise VTRAK. Do you guys have any recommendations to tape drive systems that can hold more than 8TB, preferably way more.
Also how easy or complicated is it to set it up so that it automatically backs up stuff on the tape drive from the VTRAK. How do i come about doing that?
I am looking to swap takes every week.
Is this is a viable solution?
Thanks all in advance!

you need to have a backup strategy. LTO4 is the way to go. plenty of library vendors out there. I prefer a few you can PM if you want as I dont want to be some addvertisment but you also have to decide about your backup software, probably a bigger choice than hardware.
traditional IT backups usually have a rotating schedule.
Monthly full, Weekly fulll, Daily incremental in multiple sets.
bakbone and prestore are the two suites i like. |
