We did a recent upgrade where we upgraded both hardware and software from 10.5.8/Xsan 2 and XSR hardware to 10.6.2/Xsan 2.2 and Promise Hardware. The original Xsan volume was backed up to an HFS+ DAS Raid, the new volume was created, then all data copied back. The new volume was created with Extended Attributes turned on, but copying all of the data back (using PresStore Sync) does not inherently make the dotclean job run to convert this filesystem to have full support for native extended attributes. Has anyone run the dotclean command on the volume in a situation like this? I have yet to need to run the dotclean command, as the latest Xsan 2.2 volumes I've created with native extended attributes have been brand new volumes with all new data being created on the directly, not copied back by a backup/sync program. Any thoughts or concerns I should be aware of with the dotclean command?

Thanks!
- Jason

We have also recently upgraded to Xsan 2.2 and enabled native extended attributes. When we restore old projects with BRU Server, the "._" files are also restored. These are cleaned up with the dot_clean command:

sudo /usr/sbin/dot_clean --keep=dotbar /path/to/folder

This has been used on many restored files and appears to work just fine.
