| This question isn't xsan specific - sorry, I didn't know where else to ask. I have a direct-attached fiber RAID, shared over AFP and SMB, that's been working fine for a few weeks. Suddenly, write operations will abruptly fail in the middle of copying files. Write activity will hit zero for the RAID, but read operations will continue. RAID6 connected over 8GB fiber to a new Xserve w/ SSD. Spitballing is much appreciated. |

What do the system logs say? Are you using the Apple LSI fibre card? If so, are there a ton of Fusion MPT errors associated with the drop off?
The other culprit to something like this is the SFPs and/or cables you are using. What type of RAID are you using. Some RAID vendors only test with optical and if you use copper from Apple they don't play well, and impedance mismatch will cause pauses in data transfer like this.
