The hfs_localhost folder is growing, filling our boot drive. It appears to be filling with quicktime movies clips, I assume for the thumbnails. We do not have any archive jobs creating these clips (the lengths are set to zero, which should disable them) in the archive plans. Why are these being made, and can I erase them to recover the space without getting into trouble with previously archived material. These folders, hfs_localhost and wst_localhost cannot be relocated in the database setups to put them on a different drive as the archive databases can, as the path entry is grayed out.

Thanks in advance for any advice,

Yes, true. Even if you do are not using the archive module, when browsing the file system through PresSTORE, previews are generated (regardless of the setup in the archive plans).

This behavior will be changed in version 4.

You can turn this feature off by editing the conf/lexxsrv.8000 file and adding the following lines:

ns_section ns/server/$server/module/lexxtree_hfs
ns_param previewSize 0
ns_param movieLength 0

and then restarting PresSTORE.

Furthermore, you can safely remove the previews, which you will find in a directory structure beginning with directories called "1", located within the index in conf/index/online

Generally, if you require thumbnails, you can also relocate your entire index by moving the directory to the new location and symbolically linking it back to its original place.

Thanks,
I'll give that a try.
My previews show in /conf/index/online/hfs_localhost/volumes/...... rather than a 1 directory. I assume I can delete the /volumes folder inside /hfs_localhost? Just want to make sure.
