Hello,
I was under the impression that if you have backup jobs continually recycling tapes the index associated with the recycled backups would also be recycled. However, my index seems to be growing and I'm going to run out of space soon.
Am I mistaken about how the indices are handled and is there something else I can do? (The index is almost at 7 TB). Thanks. |

Hi Michael,
Generally, that is a correct statement. However, there may be some files from some old cycle that are preventing PresSTORE from deleting the index.
I suggest you post your question directly to Archiware support and I will summarize the cause at the end of the case.
Regards,

Back with the solution to the puzzle:
It was not the backup index that consumed space, but the generated previews for the archive index.
Previews of video material are not down-scaled by default. If conversion is required, an external script must be used.
Cheers,

Also,
Ibrahim mentioned to me that you can delete the existing preview files with no adverse effects to the index itself.
Thanks for your help Ibrahim. |
