So I'm looking at getting two Sanbox 5802V switches the switch can deal with 4GB devices just fine. The fully loaded switch comes with 8GB SFPs. All of my clients, raids and servers are 4GB. I'm assuming I can't put an 8GB SFP on one end of a fiber cable and 4GB SFP on the other end. Is that correct?
If so anyone know if you can order a 5802V with out the 8GB SFP adaptors so I can buy 4GB ones separately? The reason I'm going with 5802V is due to cost and port numbers. Two 20 port 5802s are cheaper than buying four 16 port 4GB switches.
Thanks! |

Here is what we used to order a 20 port switch without transceivers.
Apple part: H5935LL/A
QLogic part: SB5802V-20AT
Don't forget that the rack mount kit is extra:
Apple part: TE084LL/A
QLogic part: SB-RACKKIT |

Is that the case, or just a preferable / best practice setup ?
I believe I've seen installations with 8Gb/s sfp on one end and 4Gb/s sfp on the other end that seemed to work fine
Is there's a Qlogic documentation for this ? |
