Spotlight on AFP re-share (yet again)

hi guys-

not sure where to look now but thought i would try here... but i have a newer setup of XSAN on a few mountain lion servers. everything is working well overall except for one small thing - that being the Spotlight results on the AFP client machines...

I have done all the normal troubleshooting techniques. The xsan volume is clean, i have totally wiped out spotlight on the xsan volume and re-enabled. actually rebuilt the index with the volume only mounted on the main MDC so as to not confuse the other clients etc. Spotlight does work perfectly fine on both MDCs and the two AFP servers attached to the san. the AFP clients when searching do get search results quickly (ala Spotlight) - but the icon never shows and the path is unavailable.

I have reached out and seen some other shaving this issue on apple's forums and seems like around XSAN 2.3 this issue cropped up.

Any ideas or experiences that anyone has would be great... i can provide any details as necessary. thanks guys...
