Here is the setup:
Xsan 2.1.1 on the fileserver with the 10.5.6 OS
Index is off currently
volume is mounted on the File server, the Volume itself is not shared at all, there are a few sharepoints being share at the moment;
issues:
For whatever reason, the spotlight was off, I went ahead turn it on, then I turn on the spot light for the Xsan volume too; all the sudden, when the windows client tries to connect to the sharepoint on Xsan, it was taking forever to connect to it; so I end it up to turn off the spot light and everything goes back to normal.
if spotlight is off, no search can be done on the server, if it is on, windows client takes forever to connect to the sharepoint; what can be done to resolve this issue?
Many thanks, |

hi sannewbie,
consider to update your fileserver to MacOS X 10.5.8. There are some serious Spotlight fixes in it.
Offcourse, first of all, update your mdc controller before you update the clients.
http://support.apple.com/downloads/Mac_OS_X_Server_10_5_8_Update_v_1_1
fixed some AFP and Spotlight (index) issues for me to. |

thanks a lot for the follow up, will Xsan 2.2 fix the spotlight issue? I guess I just have to test the windows client once the spotlight is turned on; Do you see any issue with the stornext client? I am running SNFX SW: 1.4(Client Revision 3.1.2 Build , Stornext has been running fine; It is kind of pain to uninstall 2.1.1 and install 2.2 on the file server.
Many thanks, |
