Curious - I know with ADIC software - any device attached in some sort of raid can be added to a SAN - can/will this work with XSAN (1 or 2) I'm thinking that wasting an entire controller of a raid for meta data is - a waste - i'd rather put the apple raid card internally, 2 x 300GB SAS drives and go to town - before I make this investment - anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks!

If you are using internal drives, you wouldn't be able to have a backup metadata controller for failover since only one machine would be able to see those drives. Probably not a good idea for anything mission critical.

If you're just playing, go ahead and use disk images for your metadata LUN Smile

Blight
That can of attitude can cause you a bag of hurt later. Think of metadata as the most important part of your SAN. without it, nothing else matters. So wouldn't you want to put that data on a set of disks that's designed to be mission critical. Why is it a waste?
