The fine folks from Archiware visited Tekserve last week. I wanted to share two exciting developments.

Firstly, it appears they are going to join Promise and Active Storage and create a dedicated forum here. This will be monitored by their support staff an engineers.

Secondly, we are going to try to create a live webinar for the Xsanity community. We'll hold this sometime next month.

Now this is somewhat uncharted waters. I am proud Xsanity is a very technical community, as free of marketing hype as possible. This would be a very technical presentation. On the other hand, I do work for a company that sells PresSTORE. I would make sure a salesperson from Tekserve is present at the webinar catch any leads. (But only if you request. Your registration is private, even from my employer.)

So is this a great opportunity or the beginning of the end? If you like the idea, what do you want to see from the product?

Would love to see more deployment scenarios, use cases, and feature explained in depth.

I would also love to see a free developer version for testing, home use, or IT consultants to use and therefore to get a better handle on it, before recommending it to clients. ("Ya just buy it, it's great, I think"). I know they have a 30 day trial, but it's not enough to get a real feel for it.

I agree with Matx, a developer version to test for more then 30 days would be great.

I think we all know that anyone who uses Xsan has spent some time on this site. This really is the core technical Xsan community. I would love to see developers and manufacturers presenting here (especially the super technical stuff that you don't ever find out about until you've been on the phone with the engineer for 4 hours).

I'd also like to see them take serious suggestions. Since this site probably is either where their Xsan customers are, or will be at some point, it would be a good place for feedback directly to the engineers.
