|
|
The Quad G5's appear to be using a different style of ethernet connector which seems to want to pop out of its connection.
I have recently found an issue where the New Quads are using a different style of network connector where if you use a Belkin or in another Case the "ultimate lan cable" that the connection between the cable and the G5 is not reliable.
I had a case last week where machines were loosing xsan conneciton simply because the MDC Private network cables were dropping the connection between the mac and the network.
It appears this problem only effects the Quads, if you take the same cable and place it in an xserve or a Cicso 4xxx switch no problems at all.
We replaced the ends of all these cables with a generic RJ45 connector end and it has worked flawlessy since.
I will look up the details of the RJ45 connector used and post it to you all here.

| The connectors we used are made by www.platinumtools.com. Part number is EZ-RJ45 Cat 5e or Cat 6. The boots are standard 5.5mm 1 piece molded boots. We found the snap together boots did not work as well. We purchased these items at Pacific Radio in LA. |
