Software Updates to Xsan

I have 2 metadata controllers and 2 file shares. I am currently running 10.5.6 and want to update to 10.5.7. Is there any recommended way to perform the update? MDCs first? File Shares first?

- Backup Config files from both MDCs
- Make sure MDC1 is hosting.
- Update MDC2 to 10.5.7 then failover to MDC2
- Make sure everything functions correctly before upgrading MDC1
- Update MDC1 to 10.5.7
- Failover Back to MDC1
- Update all clients to 10.5.7

There are a few things to consider...

-Is 10.5.7 compatible with all your 3rd party apps?
-Do you use any Internal raid cards? Have seen issues with 10.5.7 update and 3rd party raid and e-sata cards.
-File share performance with 10.5.7..?

Backup those config files, and may the force be with you!!!

oh its from star wards. Anyway sometimes updating can cause issues with an xsan deployment. That being said. Why do you want to do the update. Just because?
