Is there a preferred way to make a manually backup of metadata in the worse case scenario that you lose metadata LUNs & need to do recovery? Thanks.

The snmetadump command will create a current "snapshot" of your metadata. This is really only useful during a system configuration change/ upgrade type scenario...

It's kind of useless to do that. You would have to have just stopped your volume, just done a Metadata dump, and then have catastrophy strike your metadata LUN before you started the volume again, or anyone started working.

Backing up the actual data is the solution. (Tape, Tier 2 storage, whatever...)
