Is there a way to use the StorNext client on a Solaris box to see if a file is open or closed? Or a command we can run directly on a Solaris box? Our XSan volumes are mounted directly on the backup server.

We have noticed discrepancies on our file backups. Some files aren't copied, and NetBackup has never complained about it.

Thanks!

no but you could write a script that does it.

ssh to metadata controller and do an lsof.
all could be done withing a script. you could even have it email you 30 minutes before your backups.
