|
|
This problem has me "dead in the water" and I really need some help.
I'm trying to build Subscriptions that will copy and transcode media based on Boolean triggers. I got it to work - ONCE but then (after awhile) the asset filter reverted to "All" and nothing worked.
Here's an example.
I want to transcode a media file into AAC Audio. I have the Device set up to allow the transcode. I have set the Response to Copy the file to Output (device) and Transcode it. I have set the Subscription to have the "Audio Only" check as "True " and "Send to Process check as "True" and
"Trigger if changed" in Asset Filter.
BUT...
When I go back and open this subscription after I've saved it, the "Audio Only" and "Send to Process" have reverted to "All", making the subscription useless.
HELP!!!
This problem occurs in the Asset filter, Production filter and Permissions filter (that I know of). I'm guessing there's a corruption somewhere but I don't know where to start looking. We even tried a re-install over itself and that didn't work.
Any ideas?!?!

Make sure to assign the "True False Choice" Lookup to those booleans in the Asset Filter, and try setting the subscription again.
After this assignment, if the subscription still doesn't work, try recreating the subscription from scratch. |

... but I have hope now!
OK Matt, great advice!
I changed the lookup value to true/false and the asset filter showed that and the changes stuck! The subscription still didn't work, however ;-(
So... I made a new one. That didn't work either. (there's a Monty Python sketch there just waiting to spring forth!). But now I'm really curious. In the new one that I made, the choices to trigger were true/false. (not check boxes). Makes perfect sense but I'm sure the two times I got it to work the choice was a check box. I don't care if it says true/false or is a check box. I'm just curious because I am 100% sure I never set the lookup to be true/false before.
Also... in between the two tries I stopped/started the server.
So... I'm heartened but still a little stuck. I think I'll try a totally new trigger in a new metadata set. I'll keep you posted

Ok... no joy in Mudville...yet
The good news is that the changes I make in the Subscriptions (I've tried several!) all "stick". The bad news is that the trigger still doesn't start a job.
I gave up on Boolean and tried "yes, no, N/A" with N/A as the default. Still nothing.
I know my Output folder works because I can transcode into it at upload. I think everything is configured right but I wonder if I'm missing something. I have the Subscription set to 'true'. I have the Response selected in the Response Line (forgot that once or twice!). I'm wondering if I'm confusing the program with the way I'm trying to trigger a transcode.
Here's what I'm doing:
I have a metadata set called "Media to Process" which is for QT Ref files and other .movs of completed sequences. It contains fields for all the different sorts of transcodes we might want to do (Audio only, H.264 LAN, Video Podcast, etc.). Each of these has a true/false option. There is also a "Send to Process" field. The idea is that the media to process file gets uploaded and the outputs are checked. Once it's up and happy the "send to process" field is changed to "true" and the job goes (or, more to the point, doesn't). Is there a better way to do this?
Is there a super simple test subscription I could write, just to test that it works at all?

Figured it out (with a little help from Apple)
In the Details pane of the Subscription, the Event Type Filter MUST have "Modified" selected (and I added Copied and Created as well). Once that was done, it worked like a charm (or at least like it's supposed too!).
So... how come that isn't in big capital letters in the manual? Or is it and I just missed it the 200 times I read those pages?
Anyway... happy now!
