I'm setting up an Xsan with 2 controllers (xserves) and 5 clients (powermacs). All are using Tiger and XSan 1.1. I have my controllers set up and the volume works, but the clients are running Tiger and I seem to only have the retail boxes for xsan 1.0 for Panther. This won't install on the clients because they are running Panther.

I've downloaded the xsan 1.1 update for Tiger and that installs correctly.

My problem is the clients can't be seen by the XSan Admin. Is there another piece of software i'm missing? Is something else missing?

Thanks in advance.

It turns out that the firewall had been enabled on a client computer. This hid the machine from the controllers.

I still cannot get the machine to mount any storage though. I have two LUNs in the Xsan, but the client only sees one. My fabric is good, the controllers see both LUNs. Any ideas on what could be causing that?

Thanks in advance.

It looks like the reason I can't get the client on Xsan is because of the set up of our fiber network. We have two cisco fiber switches that are trunked together so that both switches are on the same fabric. In the cisco program I can see all devices from either switch and send data back and forth over the trunk.

When it comes to the XSan this is not true. Any client (or controller) plugged into only one switch and not two cannot go across the trunk. Does anyone know of any caveats when it comes to XSan and Cisco equipment? The Cisco admin is working on this too but i wondered if anyone here had run into this.

Thanks in advance.
