FCS & Captions

Anyone know what kind of support FCS has for closed captions (Line 21 data)? Is it automatically converted into metadata/assets along with the video .... or is it just left as a track in the video file (depending on how you digitize it).

It seems like it'd be handy if it indexed the captions, which could be used to generated your metadata (who/what).

That would be nice, but no, it doesn't map that into its database.

Although if there was an external scriptable program to get CC data then that could be mapped into the corresponding Final Cut Server asset as metadata.

MacCaption has a command line tool. So I bet you could script this and have a text file returned.

However FCSvr won't index a document like spotlight. Not yet at least.
