Hello Everyone,

I have a question regarding the way XSan handles resource forks. On a typical HFS+ volume that is shared out vi AFP, "._ResourceFork" files are not created when data is copied up to the AFP volume. This is nice so that windows machines that are set to show hidden files do not see numerous fork files that that begin with "._" .

With the recent release of XSan 1.2 and 10.4.3 I can now move ahead with our XSan deployment. It appears though that on the new xsan volume I created, resource forks with the "._" prefex are being created. Is there any setting to change this or disable it? I'm assuming that HFS+ & ACFS just handle creating resource forks differently, although I like the way HFS+ handles it better, as it is much cleaner.

We are not using storenext in our environment.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Regards,
Z

The XSan filesystem does not support forked files. Thats what the ._ files are being created. I can't imagine there is an alternative to this as many things depend on the resource forks.
