Hello. First of all, the setup: Two G5s, both running Xsan 1.2, one with PCI-X FC card, one with PCI-E FC card (yes, PCI-Express), both hooked into a Medea FCR2X via its built-in hub. The older G5 acts as the metadata controller... and I'm having trouble getting the volume to show up on both computers at the same time. If I mount it on one, then I can't get it to mount on the other, and vice versa. It will only show on one G5 at a time. If I try mounting it on the second, Xsan Admin just sits there, spinning forever as it says "Mounting volume 'Blahblahblah' on 192.168.1.101" (or 192.168.1.104, depending on which one is already mounted). I got it working last night after a couple of random restarts, and it was mounted on both G5s... however, I shut everything down, and now I'm back where I started- only one G5 at a time. Why the flakey behavior?

Your config can't support Xsan:

1) Xsan only works reliably with preferably fabric, or, at the least, arbitrated loop switches.

2) Clients that double as MDCs will never allow reliable operation of the SAN.
